Of Mobility with Responsibility.

Communications around Road Safety run the risk of becoming a what-to-do sermon. Tata STRIVE is set to change that with the roll-out of its newest initiative on defensive driving.

What is Tata STRIVE?

Tata STRIVE is the skill development initiative of the Tata Community Initiatives Trust under the aegis of Tata Trusts, addressing the pressing need of skilling India’s youth for employment, entrepreneurship and community enterprise.

It reaches to communities, develops skills of people from socially and economically disadvantaged backgrounds and acclimatizes them with the changing work environment.

Tata STRIVE has aimed at creating training capacity in select sectors and trades along with appropriate certification and measurement of outcomes. The learners are provided access to the best-in-class training programmes designed by bringing together the ‘domain expertise from industry leaders’ and ‘personal transformation’ components created internally by its expert team.

Craft & the Community

At Tata STRIVE, our craft is skill development and livelihood linkages. But while our effort is to enable economic prosperity of prospective job seekers through what we do, it does not stop there. Like all things Tata, community wellbeing remains at the heart of what we do. This then, became the genesis of our newest initiative – The Defensive Driving Project.

Hello, Defensive Driver!

Simply put, a ‘defensive driver’ encompasses those skills of the road that save lives, time, and money – in spite of the conditions around them or the actions of others. It is about prevention as much as it is about pre-emption. It is about mobility – with responsibility.

Safety on the road is a matter of concern, more so, because a big chunk of those paying the price are under 29 Years (The WHO Global Status Report on Road Safety 2018 estimates 22.6K deaths per 100K people using the road in India).

That is a big price to pay for mobility. Statistics wash in the realization that improved infrastructure is needed and so are safer vehicles – but what’s of equal importance is change in road user behavior especially of the youth.

Tata STRIVE has ventured into a nationwide campaign to change, well, some of it.

In a chaos of ‘where to look’, and even ‘what to look for’ – this campaign plans to bring in the meaning and materials in an interesting format. The Tata Road Safety programme, which is being conducted since 2017, in the spirit of the Decade of Action for Road Safety (2011-2020), as declared by the United Nations is a great platform to ring in these plans with our fellow colleagues.

The Defensive Driving campaign is a CSR initiative of Tata Elxsi in partnership with Tata STRIVE. It sees a nationwide launch watch for it at <http://defensivedriving.tatastrive.com/ckng.html >
